The current owner acquired this GTO in the late 1980s and promptly initiated a frame-on restoration. Originally, the car sported a blue charcoal exterior with a black interior and black top. However, the owner opted for a more attractive color scheme, choosing montero red with parchment interior and a white top. The body boasts impeccable straightness and received 17 coats of lacquer paint during the restoration process. The interior and convertible top were completely replaced, along with the power top mechanism. A period-correct-looking radio with modern internals and an auxiliary input was installed. The engine underwent a rebuild, and a professionally rebuilt tri-power unit was incorporated. While the 4-speed transmission remained initially, approximately 10 years ago, the owner made enhancements to enhance the car's driving experience. The 4-speed was swapped for a brand new Tremec 5-speed transmission. Additionally, tubular upper control arms, front disc brakes, and anti-sway bars were installed to improve handling. As a result, the car can now cruise comfortably on the freeway at under 1,500 rpm. This GTO is a sight to behold, boasting both beauty and excellent performance. Since the restoration was completed, it has only accumulated 14,000 miles.
